The Smyth Report (Extended Version)
Books I'D Like to make
The “Smyth Report” (after author Henry DeWolf Smyth) was first published on August 11, 1945. It documented the scientific and logistical effort behind the US government's nuclear weapons project and at the same time introduced the world to the new form of weapon of mass destruction. This “extended” edition of the report builds on the original idea and provides insights into the lives of those involved in the construction of the atomic bomb. From the first successful chain reaction in Chicago, to life in the “secret cities” and the Trinity nuclear test as the first atomic explosion and starting signal for a new era in world history.
